The Commission governs a medical district, whose purpose is to attract and retain academic centers of excellence, viable health care facilities, medical research facilities, emerging high technology enterprises, and other facilities and uses as permitted by the Act. The Commission is made up of eleven members, with six members appointed by the Governor with the advice and consent of the Senate, four members appointed by the Mayor of Springfield with the advice and consent of the Springfield City Council, and one member appointed by the Chairperson of the County Board of Sangamon County. AUDITORS’ OPINION We conducted a compliance examination of the Commission as required by the Illinois State Auditing Act. We have not audited any financial statements of the Commission for the purpose of expressing an opinion because the Commission does not, nor is it required to, prepare financial statements.
