The Commission governs a medical district, whose purpose is to attract and retain academic centers of excellence, viable health care facilities, medical research facilities, emerging high technology enterprises, and other facilities and uses as permitted by the Act. The Commission is made up of eleven members, with six members appointed by the Governor with the advice and consent of the Senate, four members appointed by the Mayor of Springfield with the advice and consent of the Springfield City Council, and one member appointed by the Chairperson of the County Board of Sangamon County. There were no material findings of noncompliance disclosed during our examination. AUDITORS' OPINION We conducted a compliance examination of the Commission as required by the Illinois State Auditing Act. The auditors stated the Commission complied, in all material respects, with the requirements described in the report. WILLIAM G.
